GIBBON — U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, a fifth-generation Coloradoan familiar with water issues in the Platte and Republican basins, made his first trip to south-central Nebraska during migration season.
He enjoyed the sights and sounds of sandhill cranes along the Platte River and ducks on Rainwater Basin wetlands in Phelps and Kearney counties and returned to Washington with examples of partnerships that are working to restore and manage critical natural resources.
