Late run lands Amherst second state berth

GIBBON — Class D1 No. 10-ranked Amherst scored the final 10 points of the game to seal a 43-36 come-from-behind victory over Kenesaw in the D1-5 Distirct final Friday night in Gibbon.

The win earned the Broncos (19-5) their second state tournament berth in school history. The first was in 1998, when Amherst lost to Callaway, 49-48, in the state tournament’s opening round.
