4-H events kick off the Buffalo County Fair

Posted July 28th, 2010

Carnival rides were raised, and concrete was poured Tuesday afternoon as the 2010 Buffalo County Fair came to life.

The day began with small animal, cat & dog shows in the Exhibit Building.

Tuesday night spurred the start of the 4-H Horse Show, with contestants competing in timed events including pole bending, barrel racing, and cattle roping.

Wednesday morning nonlivestock entries lined the tables in the Extension Building featuring everything from baked foods, arts & photography, to horticulture and floriculture.

Pies and tarts entries will be auctioned off on Thursday with funds raised going to the 4-H winners as well as a scholarship fund.

The Heartland of America Show’s midway will open tonight, and run through Monday Aug. 2nd between 6—11pm.
