KEARNEY —The saying goes, “There are no small parts in theater.” While Bob’s onstage contribution may have been small, his work behind the scenes helped make the community theater, and other community organizations, stronger.
This Broadway musical on tour is based on the popular 1998 film, starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The story follows a rock-star wannabe, Robbie Heart, who lives in his grandmothers basement in New Jersey and sings in a wedding band. Curtains go up at 7pm, on Monday, February 8. (more…)
Students put their talent on full display Tuesday for the Student Advisory Board’s talent show at Kearney High School. The fundraiser helped raise money for a food bank by charging a $1 admission to attendees. An additional performance was held Monday evening for the public, proceeds from which helped defray the cost of the 2009 KHS production of “Les Miserables”. (more…)
The Kearney Symphony Orchestra held their holiday concert Wednesday night at the Merryman Performing Arts Center, featuring works from famous composers Mozart, and Tchaikovsky, among others, with the inclusion of an original piece written by UNK senior music business major, Alex Ritter. (more…)
The state competition for play production stormed Kearney, following the storm of another kind earlier in the week. Performances were held at UNK, Central Elementary School, and Kearney High School.

The Four Theaters of the Hilltop Mall welcomed the public to free screenings of 80’s classics Ghostbusters, Sixteen Candles, Footloose, and Gremlins Thursday night. Concessions were reverted to 1984 prices, and following the screenings free pizza was served, while a DJ brought the music of the 80’s to a post-show dance party. (more…)
