An attic fan was the apparent cause of an early morning fire call Wednesday at Thirsty’s Convenience Store, 3004 W. Highway 30, in Kearney. The fire was reported at about 7:30 a.m., and members of the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department and Kearney Police Department responded. (more…)
The Four Theaters of the Hilltop Mall welcomed the public to free screenings of 80’s classics Ghostbusters, Sixteen Candles, Footloose, and Gremlins Thursday night. Concessions were reverted to 1984 prices, and following the screenings free pizza was served, while a DJ brought the music of the 80’s to a post-show dance party. (more…)

The Prairie Hills Chapter of Pheasants Forever hosted their “Youth Mentor Hunt” Sat., Oct. 24 at the Fort Kearny Shooting Sports Complex. Initially developed in 1996, the program is available for boys and girls with an interest in hunting but limited opportunities to go.
Minden’s 4th annual haunted house, “Horror on the Homestead”, runs 7:30 p.m. to midnight Saturday and Oct. 29-31. Go two miles west of Minden on M Road, then ½ mile north on 30 Road.
