The University of Nebraska at Kearney football team overcame four first-half turnovers to beat Saginaw Valley State, 35-20, in the first round of the NCAA Division II playoffs Saturday afternoon at Foster Field.
With a 10-2 lead in the first game of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference volleyball semifinals, the Colorado Mines Orediggers had the third-ranked University of Nebraska at Kearney Lopers reeling. But the Orediggers couldn’t deliver a knockout blow, and the Lopers rallied for a 25-23, 25-16, 25-11 victory Friday at UNK’s Health and Sports Center. (more…)
Arthur County held Greeley-Wolbach to 22 yards — and more importantly, zero points — in the fourth quarter to rally for a 45-30 win Thursday in the Nebraska Six-Man Football Coaches Association State Championship game.
This Veterans Day, the House of Barbers in Kearney is showing their appreciation by offering all veterans and active service members free haircuts with free will donations to the Disabled Veterans.

An attic fan was the apparent cause of an early morning fire call Wednesday at Thirsty’s Convenience Store, 3004 W. Highway 30, in Kearney. The fire was reported at about 7:30 a.m., and members of the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department and Kearney Police Department responded. (more…)
The Four Theaters of the Hilltop Mall welcomed the public to free screenings of 80’s classics Ghostbusters, Sixteen Candles, Footloose, and Gremlins Thursday night. Concessions were reverted to 1984 prices, and following the screenings free pizza was served, while a DJ brought the music of the 80’s to a post-show dance party. (more…)
